SHORING

Among the services we provide are Caisson Walls or Piles and lagging.

Shoring is a temporary or permanent support used to prevent the collapse during new construction, repairs or alterations of existing structures (lateral strength of walls). Most efficient earth retention systems to keep your project safe and active. We work together with a team of geo-environmental engineering to guarantee a perfect shoring design.

Generally, anything deeper than 8’ will require shoring in the city of Toronto.

TYPES OF SHORING WE PROVIDE

Caisson Walls:

Caisson Walls, also known as drilled concrete pile walls, are created by first drilling primary piles at a specific spacing and backfilling with concrete. Secondary piles, sometimes called soldier piles, are then drilled in between the primary piles such that they overlap by a specified amount, drilling out part of the concrete from the primary piles on each side before backfilling with concrete. The result is a continuous wall of concrete piles known as a Secant Wall. Additional reinforcement may be provided by inserting steel section or rebar cage within the secondary piles. Tie-back anchors and walers can be installed to provide added stability.

Piles and lagging:

Soldier piles (beams) and lagging is an excavation support technique where vertical piles (most commonly steel piles either driven or lowered into a drilled excavation and grouted) are at regular intervals along the proposed wall location. Wood lagging (sometimes steel or concrete panels) is placed between the soldier piles as excavation proceeds (typically in 3-ft to 5-ft increments). For excavations of small height, the walls are typically cantilevered. The walls can be tied-back or braced where additional lateral support is required.

SPACE-LIMITED SHORING

Wallace has a variety of equipment to provide shoring for tight access spaces.
